Viola Marie Pier, 80, of Schram City, IL, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 4:15 a.m. at her daughter's home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home. Rev. Gregg Shannon, Pastor of Mt. Carmal Baptist Church, Ramsey, IL will officiate. It is Viola's request that everyone dress casual for her visitation and funeral service. Burial will take place at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield, IL.
Viola was born on June 1, 1937, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late Kessler and Opal (Matthews) Christy. She married Charles B. "Hop" Pier on June 6, 1954, in Schram City, IL, and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2000. Viola was a housewife, mother, bartender and worked for McCaslin's Income Tax Service. She lived in Schram City her entire life, was a member of Jolly Grandmother's Club; Cobetto's and Drape's Pool Teams, enjoyed playing word search and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and entire family.
Viola is survived by one son, Kessler Joe (wife Evelyn) Pier, Schram City, IL; three daughters, twins, Lisa (husband Steve) Hefley, Schram City, IL and Teresa (husband Kenny) McDice, Irving, IL and Louise Cobetto, Taylor Springs, IL; five grandchildren, Galen (wife April) Pier, Taylor Springs, IL; Alison (husband Jay) Lentz, Panama, IL; Nick Hefley (companion Emily), Schram City, IL; Ashley Cobetto (fiance' Matt Coleman), Taylor Springs, IL and Jacob Cobetto, Taylor Springs, IL and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Viola was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Irene Plunkett and one brother, Clarence Christy.
