Ninzel Anne (Brees) Anoe

Ninzel Anne Anoe, 93, of Springfield, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield, IL.  A visitation will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL.  A funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Rev. Matt Ferguson, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.  

Mrs. Anoe was born September 9, 1921, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late Orlo M. & Mabel (Hart) Brees.  She was a 1938 graduate of Hillsboro High School; she received her Master’s Degree in English. She also received an Honorary Doctorate from SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, IL.  She married Harold Anoe on November 10, 1942 in St. Charles, MO.  He preceded in death on June 29, 1992.  Mrs. Anoe was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, IL & Central Baptist Church in Springfield, IL.  She was Dean of Admissions at SIU School of Medicine.  She had also taught English Literature & Composition at schools and within the prison systems in Arizona & Illinois, including Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro, IL.  

Mrs. Anoe is survived by three children, Emily (husband, Gary) Briney of Raleigh, NC; Cindy Garretson of Springfield, IL & Ken (wife, Kim) Anoe, Newburg, OR; four grandchildren, Amanda (husband, Keith), Rebecca, Jen & Karen and seven great grandchildren.  Along with her parents and husband she was preceded by one sister, Leslie Briggs and one brother in infancy.
