Marjorie Ruth Slightom, 93, of Hillsboro, IL passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 4:49 p.m. at Hillsboro Rehab & Nursing in Hillsboro, IL. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m .to 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL,. Rev. Randy Sands, Pastor of Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield, IL.
Mrs. Slightom was born March 26, 1924, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late Lawrence & Sybil (Friesland) Pruitt. She married Edward W. Slightom, Sr. in April 1943 in Hillsboro, IL. He preceded in death on May 22, 2016. Mrs. Slightom had worked as a Nurses Aid at Hillsboro Hospital in Hillsboro,IL. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Hillsboro, IL and she loved to quilt and play bingo..
Mrs. Slightom is survived by two sons, Larry (wife Carolyn) Slightom of Hillsboro, IL & Russell Wayne Slightom of Hillsboro, IL ; one daughter, Lena Beck of Punta Gorda, FL; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren & four great great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Edward William Slightom, Jr. & Lyndle Slightom; two brothers and one sister.
