Sorry to hear of Roy's passing. He was in the same class as I. We went together to a Winter Formal at Hillsboro High School one year. I saw him at the last class reunion and he hadn't changed a bit. Always friendly, smiling..... I'll miss him at the next reunion in August.

A great man gone too soon. I shared several years of Roy's humor and dedication while he was with DHS. As a newbie he wasn't afraid to question the status quo and he was usually on target with his observations. His presence made each serious meeting more tolerable! He never stopped trying to make the bureaucracy better. RIP.

My heartfelt sympathy to the family. I met Roy thru the Illinois Association of Court Clerks. He was absolutely one of my favorite Clerks. I remember his dedication, his commitment and his wicked sense of humor. I remember the delight he had when the VW Beetle came out of retirement. I loved his slow drawl when he spoke and how he would sometimes stretch out a word while he was thinking about how best to say something. Out lives were all made better by his. Rest in Peace Roy. You have earned your heavenly reward.

Sorry to hear of Roy's passing. He was a larger than life influential personality who left a positive impression on my childhood and family. He was a great friend to my stepfather Paris. I can still hear their jokes and laughs from when Paris would accidentally butt dial me, as they were riding around together to install political signs throughout the county. Roy stood by us when we mourned the loss of Paris and was always a great friend to our family. He is missed, even here in Nebraska.

My deepest sympathies to Nancy, James and Nola. Roy was like a brother to me and we called each other brother not only in private but in public which brought a lot of questions from everyone. We went to high school together, college together, taught school together and coached together. If I wasn’t at his house he was at mine. I got him to run for his first office, a write in candidate for student council representing commuter students at Greenville College. From there he became student council president.
Roy loved people and people loved Roy. I’ll miss him forever. So long brother, until we meet again!

My sincere condolences in your loss. The best place to find comfort in the loss of a loved one is through God's promises in the Bible. At Isaiah 26:19, he says "Your dead will live... And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." You can look forward to seeing Roy again soon, and it's my wish that God's promise of the resurrection helps you find comfort in this time of grief.

First time I ever met Roy he was a substitute teacher for Lamoine Reeves in our Coffeen 8th grade class. We pretty well put him through a very rough day but he came out of it wearing that famous smile. He wore many hats over the years but always was always wearing that smile. My sympathies to Nancy and his son along with his Mother as no parent should ever bury a child.
