Nora "Mae" McBroom, age 69, of Bullhead City, AZ, formerly of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on February 25, 2015 at 1:51 p.m. at Kindred Hospital. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
Mae was born on August 13, 1945 in Montgomery Co., IL to the late Charles & Hazel (Vance) Short. She resided in Montgomery Co., IL until 1985 when she moved to Bullhead City, AZ. She had worked as a waitress at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas until her retirement seven years ago.
Nora married Gene Shreve and later divorced. She married Lee Eugene "Smokey" McBroom on January 1, 1983 and he preceded on February 24, 1997. Survivors include her companion, John Kent, Bullhead City, AZ; son, Stanley (wife Brenda) Shreve, Oklahoma City OK; six grandchildren, Chantel Bashant, Gary Shreve, Tyler Shreve, Brandi Shreve, Jesse Cole Lawton, all of Oklahoma City OK and Malachi Johnson, Virginia Beach, VA; and half-brother, Steve (wife Lydia) Bentley, of Texas. She was preceded by a daughter, Alicia Shreve on December 10, 2005 and two brothers.
