Mercedes Virginia Lessman, 90, of Hilllsboro, IL passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at 9:40 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital, Hillsboro, IL. Visitation will be Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL. Mark Noyes, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.
Mrs. Lessman was born on June 11, 1926, in Walshville, IL, to the late Ernest and Hazel (Micenhiemer) Vogel. She lived her entire life in the Hillsboro area. She married Bernard Lessman on November 30, 1943, in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her on December 12, 1995. Mrs. Lessman was a housewife, part-time artist and had worked at the Dress Factory as a seamstress. She was a member of Luck and Buck Saddle Club and local art clubs.
Mrs. Lessman is survived by four sons, Larry (wife Sue) Lessman, Jim (wife Jennifer) Lessman, Dean (wife Becky) Lessman and Dale Lessman, all of Hillsboro, IL; two daughters, Judy (husband Lee) Austif, Pana, IL and Sue Lessman, Witt, IL; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Burl Vogel and Merle Vogel; two sisters, Betty Ott and Bonnie Boston.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lessman was preceded in death by one son, Chuck Lessman and two brothers, Robert Vogel and William Vogel.
