Charles “Chuck” Howard Otterstedt, age 95, formerly of Champaign, IL, passed away with his daughter, Debra, at his side on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Taylor Springs, IL.  Cremation rites were accorded and private family services are planned at a later date.

Mr. Otterstedt was born on January 8, 1920, in Victor, Iowa to the late Henry and Lois (Edelen) Otterstedt.  He was retired from Super Valu, Inc. where he was in charge of all grocery buying for the company.  After high school he enlisted in the Marine Corp to serve in World War II, where he attained the rank of Corporal while serving in the South Pacific.

Charles married Marion von Aswege May 11, 1940.  Four children were born from this union, Jacqueline Kay (who died in infancy); Stephen Charles Otterstedt (wife Karen), of Georgetown, TX; Debra Christine Walcher (husband Keith), of Nokomis, IL and Rebecca Anne Hovancak of Montfort, WI.  This union was dissolved in 1970.  He married Norma Jean Craig on July 9, 1971 in Champaign, IL.  She preceded him in death.

We would like to mention, especially, Pat Pritts, an employee of Forsyth Assisted Living, who acted as guardian to Charles as he participated on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
