Wilma McCammack entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Born August 6, 1923 to Reverend Lon and Edith Sefton in Weldon, Illinois. She married James McCammack on October 12, 1940. She became a licensed Practical Nurse in 1964 then worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur until 1966 when they bought Rest Haven Shelter Care in 1967 in Irving, Illinois.
They were bought out by Hawthorne Lodge Inc. in Hillsboro, Illinois. This is now Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Center. Wilma became a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and worked until 1984 when she had to retire due to health problems. She did Minnie Pearl impersonations from 1992 until 2020. She performed all over Central Illinois plus Arizona and Arkansas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as the church organist from December of 1966 to 2012. She taught an adult Sunday School class for many years and then continued serving the Lord as a substitute teacher. She also served on many committees. She is also a member of the Oreana Baptist Church where she served as the church organist as well from 2013 to 2018, serving under her son Ed who was the pastor.
She is a former member of the Illinois Nursing Home Association, Spasmodic Torticollis Association, and the Business and Professional Women’s Association. She served as President of the residents at the Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by 4 sons, Jerry and Polly McCammack of Nashville, AR; Dick and Donna McCammack of Troy, IL; Ed and Melodie McCammack of Urbana, IL; and Dennis and Kathy McCammack of Hillsboro, IL; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, three sisters, and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the Calvary Baptist Church or the Oreana Baptist Church.
