Shirley L. Boyd, 84, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 11:32 a.m., at her residence. Private burial will be held at Clear Springs Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.
Mrs. Boyd was born on August 21, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Louis and Dorothy (Williamson) Hartel. She married Joseph “Joe” R. Boyd, on August 21, 1952, in Hillsboro, IL and he preceded her on May 13, 2005. She had cleaned homes, worked at Webco in Litchfield, IL and was a housewife. Mrs. Boyd was a member of Taylor Springs Baptist Church; Salvation Army and a volunteer at the Moose Lodge # 1377 in Hillsboro, IL.
Mrs. Boyd is survived by her four children, Jerry Boyd of Hillsboro, IL; Bob Boyd of Waggoner, IL; Brenda (husband, Gene) Beach of Taylor Springs, IL and Barb Boyd of Mesa, AZ; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother, Leroy (wife, Ann) Hartel and a sister, Marlene (husband, Harold Dean) Parks. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Boyd was preceded by two daughters, Lora Boyd in infancy and Marsha Casner; two brothers, Gordon E. Hartel and Earl “Butch” Hartel, a sister, Maxine Meier; as well as one grandson, Michael Beach, and one great great granddaughter, Remington Beach.
