Ruth Ellen (Harms) Elsas

Ruth Ellen Elsas of Hillsboro passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 4:33 a.m. at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro, IL.

Ruth Ellen was born on July 12, 1933 in Emden, IL. The daughter of Nanke and Frances (Rademaker) Harms. She married Robert W. Elsas in Emden on May 16, 1954 and he preceded her in death on November 8, 1997. Also preceding her are her parents; one brother, Donald Wayne Harms; and one sister, Mary Lou Myers.

Ruth Ellen is survived by her son, Robert L. Elsas of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and her daughter, Rhonda (husband Jay) Ward of Hillsboro, IL; her sister, Shirley Ann (husband Ellis) Gemberling of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Robert L. Elsas and Kelly Elsas; one great grandchild, Braden Tregoning; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Wares Grove Lutheran Church in Butler and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a past member of American Legion Auxiliary of Lincoln and Montgomery County Home Extension of Hillsboro. She had been employed at Lehn and Fink Company, Logan Farm Service, and Illico Independent OilCompany in Lincoln, IL.

Graveside Services will be at Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler, IL on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Jaffry, Pastor of Wares Grove Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler, IL.

Memorials may be made to Wares Grove Lutheran Church or Tremont Ridge Assisted Living.
