Roy Alvin Burris

Roy Alvin Burris, age 68, of Witt, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. The family has entrusted Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home with arrangements.

Roy was born on August 10, 1956, to the late James A. Burris and Edith M. (Howard) Friesland. He has resided in Montgomery County his entire life and worked for the Taylor Springs Township. Mr. Burris married Susan M. Davis on June 6, 1976, at the Methodist Church in Hillsboro, Illinois. She preceded on June 11, 2011. Roy was known as “Mr. Fix It,” because he was the jack of all trades. He was a very reliable man and always tried to be there for anyone who needed him. Roy enjoyed fishing with his brother in Coffeen and Fillmore.

Mr. Burris is survived by his two daughters, Anne (husband, Daniel) Desmond of Coffeen, Illinois and Sarah (fiancé, Jacob Tebbe) Burris of Springfield, Illinois; siblings, Jim (wife, Becky) Burris of Fillmore, Illinois and Ellen Duvall of Hillsboro, Illinois.
