Robert “Bob” W. McGill, 86, of Taylor Springs, IL passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 8:12 p.m., at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. A memorial graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. (noon), at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Family and friends may meet at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, at 11:30 a.m., to proceed to the cemetery.
Mr. McGill was born on November 29, 1934, in Sorento, IL, to the late Arnold & Alice Ruth (Wall) McGill. He was a Graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL. Mr. McGill married Grace May Carlock, on November 1, 1958, in Taylor Springs, IL. She preceded in death on March 28, 1982. He had retired from the Hillsboro Glass Factory, in Hillsboro, IL, after 30 + years of service and was a member of the Steel Workers Union Local 4369 in Granite City, IL. Mr. McGill was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. He had lived in Panama, IL, Hillsboro, IL and Taylor Springs, IL.
Mr. McGill is survived by his children, Becky McGill (companion, Tommy Maxwell) of Taylor Springs, IL; Connie Craig of Port Charlotte, FL & Paul Compton of Mesa, AZ; seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a brother, Darrell McGill of Hillsboro, IL. Along with his parents and wife, Mr. McGill was preceded in death by one son in infancy; daughter, Robin McGill; son, William Compton and siblings, Arnold McGill, Allen McGill, Ralph McGill, John McGill, Betty Malisia, Burnetta Redfern, Burl Willman, Kenneth Willman, Gerald Willman & Arvada Hanus.
