Robert L Baron

Robert L. Baron, 80, of Donnellson, IL passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 5:06 p.m. at his residence.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.  Cremation rites will be accorded following services.  Burial and Military rites will be accorded, by V.F.W. Post 1306 and American Legion Post 425, at St. Agnes Cemetery on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.

Mr. Baron was born on October 1, 1939 in Taylor Springs, IL to the late George Leo and Esther (Payne) Baron, Sr.  He was a high school graduate and earned a BA from SIU/Carbondale, Carbondale, IL.  He worked as an Engineer at Boeing and several different firms.  Mr. Baron lived in Taylor Springs, IL; Texas; California; Florida; Vermont; and Donnellson, IL during his life.  He married Marcia Dickerson and they later divorced.  He married Sylvia Hemingway and she preceded him in death.  Mr. Baron loved fishing, shooting, NASCAR racing, mowing grass, go-cart racing, motorcycle racing, and loved his two cats, Billy Bob and Rosie.

Mr. Baron is survived by six children, Bobbi Jo Baron of Smithton, IL, Ami J. Baron of Belleville, IL, Jason Scott Baron of Belleville, IL, Robert Baron, Jr. of Belleville, IL, Marni M. Baron of Gautier, MS, and Lori L. Dickerson of Waterloo, IL; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sue Baron of Quincy, IL.

Along with his parents, Mr. Baron was also preceded in death by a brother, George "Jack" Baron, Jr.

Memorial may be given to St. Jude Hospital.
