Norman Jacob Huisman, 86, of Donnellson, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 10:17 p.m., at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Randy Sands, Pastor of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Military rites will be accorded at graveside by Department of Defense and American Legion Post 425. Burial will be in Donnellson Cemetery in Donnellson, IL.
Norman Huisman was born on May 22, 1935 in Walshville, IL to the late Russell and Lottie (Graham) Huisman. After school he served two years in the U.S. Army and 2 years with the National Guard. He did his basic training at Fort Polk in Louisiana, went to mechanic school at Fort Chaffee in Arkansas, and was a truck driver at Fort Lewis in Washington. He worked at Eagle Zink in Hillsboro, IL for 14 years, worked at the Donnellson Elevator in Donnellson, IL, and worked for Ameren CIPS for 19 years before retiring in 2000. He married Sharen File on July 23, 1963 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL. She survives in Donnellson, IL. He was a member of the Donnellson Presbyterian Church in Donnellson, IL and the Hillsboro VFW Post #1306. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Huisman is survived by his daughter Shauna Huisman of Donnellson, IL.
Memorials may be given to the Senior Center for Meals on Wheels.
