Mike Dagon Obituary

Mike Dagon, 75, of Butler, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 12:47 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Reverend John Jaffry, Pastor of Ware's Grove Lutheran Church in Butler, IL will officiate. Cremation rites were accorded and burial will be in Ware's Grove Cemetery in Butler, IL.

Mr. Dagon was born on August 22, 1946 in Hillsboro, IL to the late William M. Dagon, Sr. and June E (Hill) Dagon. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, Class of 1964, and went on to attend three years of college. Mr. Dagon served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He had worked at Siever’s Equipment Co. Case IH Dealer, Carlinville, IL in Sales & Services and in the Parts Department. Mr. Dagon was a member of the American Legion Post #299, Civil War Round Table and a member of Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library; Volunteer Guide at Lincoln’s Tomb; Sexton of Ware’s Grove Cemetery; and was a Dauphin Island Sea Lab docent. His interests included golf, Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Pirates, the American Civil War, and traveling. He had lived in Raymond, IL and Butler, IL during his lifetime.

Mr. Dagon is survived by his wife, Myra Jean Dagon of Butler, IL; sons, Col. Patrick (wife, Emily) Dagon of Wiesbaden, Germany and Lt. Col. Kevin (wife, Thuy) of Vass, North Carolina; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Ethan, Kara (husband, Michael) and Hayley; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Adalyn, and Lukas; sister, Mary Dagon of Belleville, IL; and his faithful companion, Haggis the dog. He was preceded in death by his parents, William M. Dagon, Sr. and June E (Hill) Dagon and sister, Kathy Dagon.
