Melva Irene Beeler, 90, Avid Artist and Gardner- Melva died October 29, 2020 at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Hillsboro, IL with her family by her side. Due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation and private graveside services will be held at Wares Grove Cemetery.
Melva was born March 10, 1930 in Coffeen, IL, a daughter of the late John Henry Christian and Alma (Tarran) Alice Lazenby. During her life, Melva worked as a homemaker, wood carver and artist. She married Donald Eugene Beeler on May 5th , 1950, who proceeded her in death on October 29, 2008.
Together, her and her husband started the Lake Road Garden Center and spend many years creating a family-owned arts and crafts business. Melva was an avid gardener, quilter and loved spending time with her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Beeler is survived by daughters, Bronwyn (husband Riaz) Castillo of Sioux Falls, SD, Janet Douglas of Carbondale, Kim Groesbeck of Naperville, Donna (husband Rick) Funderburk of Irving; and sons Joe (wife Lori) of Irving, Mike (wife Lori) of Irving, and Clay (wife Sherry) of St. Charles, MO; nineteen grandchildren, Omalley Abel, Gwen Ramirez and Judson Douglas, Peter, Christine and John Groesbeck, William and Joseph Purcell, Joe, Jesse and Katie Funderburk, Tyler, Luke and Ethan Beeler, Heather Duzan and Danielle Beeler, Dylan, Bailey and Chelsea Beeler; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Logan and Caiden Abel, Sam Ramirez and Sarah Lopez, Nolan, Blake and Carter Purcell, Grey Purcell, Zada, Ava and Jake Beeler, Elijah Beeler and Trevor and Charlotte Duzan, and Axton and Harper Cleeton. One brother, Garold (wife Nadine) Christian of Sorento and one sister Christine Welch of Arizona and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, George Kenneth Christian and his wife, Marlene Christian.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bremer’s Sanctuary or Montgomery County Cancer Association (MCCA).
