Melbourine Blackburn, 85, of Coffeen, IL, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 10:33 a.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs, IL. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen, IL. Pastor Harry Kirk will officiate. Burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg, IL.
Mrs. Blackburn was born on June 12, 1936 in South Fillmore Township to the late Wilbert and Reva (Wilson) Bess. She graduated Coffeen High School in 1954, and went on to work as a payroll clerk at the Coffeen Illinois Power Station. Mrs. Blackburn married William Taylor Blackburn at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Coffeen, IL on July 17, 1954. She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Coffeen, IL. She had lived in Coffeen, IL and Edwardsville, IL during her lifetime.
Mrs. Blackburn is survived by her husband, William Blackburn, of Coffeen, IL; her children, Debby (husband Larry) Yeske of Irving, IL and Bob (wife Kim) Blackburn of Chapman, IL; grandchildren, Taylor (wife Jessie) Blackburn of Hillsboro, IL; Lacy (husband Daniel) Kimbro of Hillsboro, IL; Kyle (wife Neely) Yeske of Irving, IL; and Cody Hodges of Hillsboro, IL; great-grandchildren, Jossalyn Kimbro, Killian Kimbro, Ethan Blackburn, Liam Blackburn, Will Yeske, Alex Yeske, Sophia Blankenship, and Brooklyn Fisher; Mrs. Blackburn was preceded by her parents, Wilbert and Reva (Wilson) Bess; her siblings Phyllis White and Bernadine “Deano” Huber; and granddaughter, Dana Hodges-Denny.
