Marilyn Hope Swetland, 91, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 7:05 p.m. at her residence. Graveside services for Mrs. Swetland will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery located at 1894 E. 1100 Ave Saint Peter, Illinois 62880. Dominic Ruppert will officiate. Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Swetland was born on May 17, 1933 to the late Clinton and Dorothy (O’Dell) Traylor in Bingham, Illinois. She was a graduate of Bingham High School and resided in Bingham, Illinois, Gardner, Illinois, and Vandalia, Illinois throughout her lifetime. She was a housewife, who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. On October 28, 1965, Marilyn married Charles Alan Swetland in Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Mr. Swetland preceded her in death on April 19, 2007.
Mrs. Swetland is survived by her son, Charles Alan (wife, Jennifer) Swetland Jr.; granddaughter, Amanda Swetland, both of Bingham, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents and husband; also preceded by her brother, Bob Traylor, and sister Nedra JoAnn Moreland.
Memorials are suggested to Pleasant Grove Cemetery or 2nd Chance Animal Rescue of Fayette County.
