Marcus Clark Thomson

Marcus C. Thomson, 75, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10:38 a.m. at his residence.  A visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to noon, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Steven Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Donnellson Cemetery in Donnellson, IL with Military Rites at graveside by Department of Defense.

Mr. Thomson was born December 28, 1947, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late Ezra & Mable (Whitten) Thomson.  He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL and then received an Associate Degree from Vatterottt Educational Center in St. Louis, MO.  He was a veteran, serving four years in the Army and four years in the Navy.  Mr. Thomson married Loretta Maxine Sharp, on June 22, 1974, in Litchfield, IL.  She preceded in death on November 5, 2010.   He had worked at Olin, Eagle Zinc and International Paper as a laborer and was very active in church ministry & music.  He loved singing and playing the guitar.

Mr. Thomson is survived by his two children, Scott Thomson of Divernon, IL and Michelle Thomson of Hillsboro, IL; six grandchildren, Autumn Smith, Isaiah Gates, John Thomson, Sonya Thomson, Renee Thomson & Crystal Thomson and two sisters, Marcia (husband, Jim) Soper of New Mexico and Mary Ellen Brown of Springfield, IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Linda Gresham.
