Louis Otto Scroggins, 72, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 6:53 a.m. at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL. Reverend Randy Sands, Pastor of Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.
Mr. Scroggins was born on December 25, 1948, in New Douglas, IL, to the late Louie Scroggins and Willa (Smiley) Scroggins Tretter. He was a 1966 graduate of Staunton High School in Staunton, IL. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL, and a member of AFSCME. Louie was one of the original founders of the Hillsboro Junior Football program, which began in 1994. He coached and became director of football for the Hillsboro Sports Association for over a decade. In 2002, Louie and Reggie Waldrup formed the South Central Junior Football Conference, where he served as president for many years. That conference is still in existence today. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan since he was 11 years old, a Golden Glove Boxing Champion and he loved to travel.
Mr. Scroggins is survived by his wife Birdie Scroggins; 2 Sons - Louie (wife, Dawn) Scroggins of Hillsboro, IL and Craig (wife, Tera) Scroggins of Hillsboro, IL & 1 Step Daughter - Jessica (husband, Kevin) Bush of Jacksonville, FL; 7 Grandchildren - Alexis, Jade, Brooklyn, Aiden, Levi, Nicholas, and Skylar; and 9 Brothers and Sisters - Ann Masinelli, Jean Hainaut, Rena Smith, Linda Stiller, Ray Scroggins, Nancy Scroggins, Mary Ann Scroggins, Otto Scroggins, and John Scroggins.
Memorials may be given to the Hillsboro Junior Football League or Benld Adopt-A-Pet.
