LaMoine Earl Reeves

LaMoine Earl Reeves, 89, of Donnellson, IL passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Randy Sands, Pastor of Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.  Burial will be in Donnellson Cemetery in Donnellson, IL.

Mr. Reeves was born on July 2, 1931, in Sorento, IL, to Dwight & Evelyn (Lewis) Reeves, and he was raised by his father and step mother, Lucille (Neece) Reeves. All have preceded in death.  He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL and he had attained his Bachelors in Education as well as a Masters in Administration from Greenville College in Greenville, IL. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict on the aircraft carrier, WASP. Mr. Reeves married Mary Jean Davis on August 23, 1958 in Hillsboro, IL and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2015. Mr. Reeves was a retired educator. He was a teacher and Principal of Coffeen Elementary School for 31 years. He was a member of the Coffeen Lion Club; Hillsboro Area Hospital Board; Hillsboro Education Foundation and had served on several other boards.  He loved being an educator, spending time with his family, his dogs and his antique GMC truck. Mr. Reeves had lived in Donnellson, IL area most of his life.  He had lived in Kalamazoo, MI & Morton, IL for a short time in his younger years.

Mr. Reeves is survived by one son, Geoff (wife, Theresa) Reeves of Hillsboro, IL and 1 daughter-in-law, Nancy Reeves of Donnellson, IL;  three grandchildren , Paige (husband, Ryan) Farmer of Hillsboro, IL; Payton Reeves of North Hollywood, CA & Kelli Reeves of Donnellson, IL; two brothers, Fred (wife, Bonnie) Reeves of Mason City, IL & Roger (wife, Kathy) Reeves of Hillsboro, IL.   Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight & Evelyn (Lewis) Reeves and Step-Mother, Lucille (Neece) Reeves; one son, Dwight Roger “Doc” Reeves and one sister, Myrna Marti.
