Kenneth "Gene" White

Kenneth “Gene” White 74, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at his residence. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL. Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro, Illinois.

Mr. White was born on June 8, 1948 in St. Elmo, IL to the late Cecil Rex White and Dorothy (Koonce) White Gerhart. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL and went on to attain his bachelor’s degree from Greenville College in Greenville, IL; in 1989 he earned his Financial Advisor’s License. He had taught school in Mt. Prospect, IL and Litchfield, IL for 25 years.  He then began his own  financial business in 1989, White and Associates in Hillsboro IL, he worked there until his retirement in 2015. Mr. White married Susan Reck on December 27, 1969 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL; she survives in Hillsboro, IL. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL, where he was an Eucharistic Minister and Usher; Knights of Columbus for forty-nine years, where he had served as Grand Knight twice; Educational Foundation for twelve years, eight as President; Hillsboro Country Club, where he had served as Treasurer; served as President of Chamber of Commerce in Hillsboro, IL for two years, where    he had served as President.  He loved fishing trips with his grandchildren, gardening, humming birds and had taken trips with    his four oldest grandchildren when they each had turned 13. He loved learning languages and was fairly fluent in both German & Italian.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle & brother.  He was fiercely independent and strong. Mr. White had lived in Villa Park, IL for three years, other than that he lived in Hillsboro, IL his entire life.

Mr. White is survived by his wife, Susan White of Hillsboro, IL; his daughters, Beth (husband, Brandon) Wille of Hillsboro, IL; Angie (husband, Jeff) Eickhoff of Hillsboro, IL; and Gina (husband, Jason) Burke of Irving, IL; his grandchildren, Ray Wille, Aaron Wille, Alex Eickhoff, Maddie Eickhoff, Camden Burke & Renna Burke; his siblings, Sharon (husband, Chuck) Davis of Chatham, IL;  Daryl White of Chatham, IL and Clayton (wife, Veronica) White of Bar Nunn, WY;  two brother-in-laws –Randy (wife, Lisa) Reck of Hillsboro, IL and David (wife, Lynda) Reck of Sebring, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Rex White and Dorothy (Koonce) White Gerhart, and his baby sister Donna White.
