Joseph "Joe" B Childers

Joseph "Joe" B. Childers, 84, of Coffeen, IL, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020, at 10:24 p.m. at his residence.  Cremation rites were accorded.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 1:00 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home, Coffeen, IL.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home, Coffeen, IL.  We will be following COVID-19 CDC Guidelines with the use of masks and social distancing.

Mr. Childers was born on January 22, 1946 in Amy, North Carolina to the late Reeves and Edna (Jones) Childers.  He worked as a candy maker at Brachs Candy, Chicago, IL.  He lived in Arizona, Chicago, IL for 40 years and Coffeen, IL.  He married Janet McKinney on November 3, 1956 in Harrisburg, VA and she survives in Coffeen, IL.  Mr. Childers loved the outdoors, to hunt, fish, participate in turkey shoots, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and family.

Mr. Childers is survived by his wife; two children, Joyce (husband John) Bieda of Roselle, IL and Jennifer (husband Ted) McAleer of Oswego, IL; eight grandchildren, Miranda Mock, Matthew Lupton, Kyle Underwood, Blaine Underwood, Olivia McAleer, Ethan McAleer, Jennifer Bieda, and John Bieda; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Reed of Chicago, IL.

Mr. Childers was also preceded by a daughter, Pam Underwood; one sister and one brother.

Memorial may be given to the American Heart Association.
