John "Jay" W. Casey Jr.

John W. "Jay" Casey Jr., 90, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at 6:52 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL. Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL. Military rites will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery by Department of Defense and American Legion Post #425.

Mr. Casey was born on April 24, 1931 to the late John W. and Minnie I. (Matheny) Casey, Sr. in Hillsboro, IL. He was a 1949 Hillsboro High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army, having duties in California and the Panama Canal. He worked at Premo Mazzier Distributing, Eagle Pitcher in Supervision and the City of Hillsboro at the Waste Water Plant. He married Sherilan Bateman on May 13, 1956 at the Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, IL. She survives in Hillsboro, IL. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL, Knights of Columbus, Hillsboro Country Club, and the Hillsboro Lions Club. He loved golf and playing any type of cards, especially bridge. He was a devoted family man and known as "Papa" to his grandchildren. He lived in the Hillsboro area his entire life.

In addition to his wife, Sherilan, Mr. Casey is survived by his children, Timothy (wife Dawn) Casey of Baldwin, MO, Lee Ann Casey Bristow and husband Dr. Robert Bristow of Westfield, MA, and Jennifer (husband Monte) Sekel of Beaver Damn, WI; six grandchildren, Shae Haber, Tara Beth Casey, Aidan Black, Liam Black, Ronan Vandermus, and Quinn Sekel; one great-grandchild, Jay Haber; siblings, Andy Casey and Kay Fialkowski.

Mr. Casey is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Frances Catalani, Betty Feeny, Barbara Hammon, Wayne Casey, and Marie George.

Memorials may be given to the St. Agnes Catholic Church Building Fund or Hillsboro Area Hospital.
