Janean (Miller) Stretch

Janean Stretch, 90, of Hillsboro, passed away on August 6, 2025, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield. Visitation will be from 4 -7 pm, at Bass Patton Dean funeral home in Hillsboro. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Monday. The funeral mass will be offered at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Burial will be at St. Agnes cemetery in Hillsboro, following the funeral.

Janean was born July 9, 1935, to Bud and Louise Miller of Shelbyville, Illinois. She married Dale Stretch on July 7, 1953. He preceded her in death July 10, 2004. They became parents of Connie Mills of Coffeen, Denise Hancock of Peoria, Cheryl Johnston of Canyon Lake, CA and John (Linda) Stretch of Hillsboro. She has 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In her lifetime, she was a bus driver for ECSE in Hillsboro Unit School District, a ham radio operator, La Sertoma president, Lioness club member, St. Agnes Council of Catholic women member, a caregiver for the elderly, an avid Bridge player, loved playing cards and Dominoes with friends, and loved baking cookies for family and friends. She received numerous awards in her 48 years as an Avon representative.

Janean was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Louise; her husband of 51 years, Dale; her sister Rita Hubbart; brother-in-law, Kenneth Woods; sons-in-law, Bill Johnston, Russell Hancock, and Tom Mills; great-great-grandson, Balin Robbins
