James P. Raburn, 77, of Irving, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at his residence. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Randy Sands, Pastor of Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Military Rites will be held at graveside. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Garden in Fairview Heights, IL. We will be following COVID-19 CDC guidelines with use of masks and social distancing.
Mr. Raburn was born on June 16, 1943, in Deering, MO, to the late Leonard A. and Berl M. (Singleton) Raburn. He is a graduate of East St. Louis High School in East St. Louis, IL and had attended one year of college. Mr. Raburn was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Vicki Altevogt, on September 3, 1977, in Hillsboro, IL and she survives in Irving, IL. Mr. Raburn was a self-employed painter and was a member of the American Legion Post #425 in Irving, IL. He loved golfing, fishing, wood working and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Mr. Raburn had lived in East St. Louis, IL and moved to Montgomery County, IL in 1975.
Mr. Raburn is survived by his wife, Vicki Raburn of Irving, IL; three children, Joe Loyd (wife, Penny) Raburn of Collinsville, IL; Billie Lynn (husband, Rick) Vincent of Maryville, IL and Amanda (husband, Josh) Gorsage of Witt, IL; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Raburn, Don Raburn and Bill Raburn.
