James R. Hefley, 81, of HIllsboro,IL passed on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at his residence. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro IL & also on Monday, one hour prior to service, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro IL. Rev. Jeff Hemken, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro IL, will officate. Burial will be in Edwards Cemetery in rural Hillsboro, IL.
Mr. Hefley was born June 14, 1937, in Hillsboro IL, to the late Harry Hefley & Martha (Roberts) Hefley. He was a 1955 Graduate of HIllsboro High School and has served in the Air Force, where he spent 2 years in Japan. Mr. Hefley married Anna Lou Moreland, on November 25, 1962, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro IL. She survives in HIllsboro, IL. He retired from the United States Postal Service, where he had worked as a clerk and custodian. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, where he served as a Deacon & Sunday School Teacher; He was very active with Bremer Wildlife Sanctuary; Audubon Society; Old Settlers Senior Society; Little League Coach; Avid outdoorsman; loved gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his children & grandchildren.
Along with his wfie, Mr. Hefley is survived by one son, James (wife, Tap) Hefley of Rochester IL; one daughter, Debbie Berry of Peoria IL and four grandchildren, Matt White, Brieanne (husband Sam) Schumann, James J. Hefley & Jamie M. Hefley. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Mark Berry and one brother, John Hefley.
