James Harold Bergman, 76, of Dowell, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 8:06 p.m., at his residence. A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Randy Sands, Pastor of Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL will officiate. Burial will take place at Irving Cemetery in Irving, IL.
Mr. Bergman was born April 1, 1944, in Litchfield, IL, to the late Marvin “Jake” and Virginia Ione (Davidson) Bergman. He married Helen Shipman, on September 19, 1964, in Hillsboro, IL and she survives in Dowell, IL. He had worked as a Coal Miner at Freeman #6 coal mine in Waltonville, IL for 32 years, and was a member of the U.M.W.A.. He coached little league baseball and was the president of the little league in Waltonville, IL. He loved riding his scooter, gardening, hunting, mushroom hunting, spending time with his family and he also raised and trained beagle dogs. Mr. Bergman had lived in Litchfield, IL; Hillsboro, IL; Waltonville, IL and Dowell, IL during his lifetime.
Mr. Bergman is survived by four children, Richard Bergman of Creal Springs, IL; Terry (wife, Angela) Bergman of Harrisburg, IL; Lora (husband, Robert) Watson of Hillsboro, IL and Judy (husband, Mark) Black of Dowell, IL; nineteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren ;one brother, Dale Bergman of Cahokia, IL and two sisters, Diana Bergman of Hillsboro, IL and Maxine Robinson of Green River, WY. Along with his parents, Mr. Bergman was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Christina Watson and one great grandson; four brothers, Robert “Bob” Bergman, Donald B. Bergman, Gary Joe Bergman and Marvin Bergman and one sister, Janice Kay Bergman.
