Harold Franklin Sorrell, 96, of Hillsboro, IL passed on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at his residence. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Ralph Ward, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Cremation rites will follow.
Mr. Sorrell was born on April 16, 1922, in New Lexington, OH, to the late Samuel and Margaret (Stevens) Sorrell. He was a high school graduate and worked as an apprentice Mold Maker at Anchor Hocking Glass Factory in Ohio for 4 years then became a Mold Maker at Hillsboro Glass Factory until retirement. Mr. Sorrell served in the United States Army Air Corp. He married Marvis Schmidt on September 11, 1947, in Brighton, CO, and she survives in Hillsboro, IL. During his lifetime he lived in Ohio and Hillsboro, IL.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Sorrell is survived by two children, Marvis Yvonne Sorrell, Los Angeles, CA and Larry Wayne Sorrell, Ft. Wayne, IN; brother-in-law, Ray Schmidt; nieces, Donna Lewis and Alice Lee Giles; nephews, Ronnie Wagner, Jack Schmidt and Dick Lauderbaugh and extended family, Pat Delahunt, Joy Crawford, Diane Lowder, Desiree Crawford and Pat Lentz.
Mr. Sorrell was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
