George Cerutti Obituary

George J. Cerutti, 80, of Irving, IL passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at 10:12 p.m., at his residence.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 12:30 p.m., at Bost Hill Cemetery in Fillmore, IL.  Friends may meet at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, at 12:00 p.m. (noon), to proceed to the cemetery.  Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.  Military rites will be held at graveside.  Burial will be in Bost Hill Cemetery in Fillmore, IL.  

Mr. Cerutti was born on August 16, 1940, in Litchfield, IL, to the late Joseph M. and Rose (Fenoglio) Cerutti.  He was a 1958 Graduate of Gillespie High School in Gillespie, IL and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served from 1961 to 1963, during the Cuban Missile Crises.  Mr. Cerutti married Diane Karnes, on December 18, 1965, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL and she survives in Irving, IL.  He had worked as a Coal Miner at Little Dog Coal Mine in Gillespie, IL, Consol Coal Mine in Coffeen, IL and then he became a Federal Mine Inspector.  He was also a Prudential Sales Agent; owner/operator of DX Station in Hillsboro, IL; co-owner of Woody’s Tavern in Hillsboro, IL and owner of Cerutti Baseball Card Shop in Hillsboro, IL.  Mr. Cerutti was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Gillespie, IL and Hillsboro, IL; Jaycees in Hillsboro, IL; Witt Lions and Hillsboro Lions; Hillsboro School Board in Hillsboro, IL, where he served as President; Moose Lodge #1377 in Hillsboro, IL and Shoal Creek Ducks Unlimited, where he had served on the committee for over 30 years.  Mr. Cerutti also had a relentless passion for waterfowl hunting.  He had lived in Gillespie, IL; Hillsboro, IL and Irving, IL during his lifetime.

Mr. Cerutti is survived by his wife, Diane Cerutti of Irving, IL; two children, Mike (wife, Judy) Cerutti and Jill Cerutti, both of Coffeen, IL; seven grandchildren, Reid (wife, Christina) Cerutti, Luke Cerutti, Jacob Cerutti, Ashley (husband, Craig) Steed, Ciara Hrabusicky (significant other, Drake Ondrey), Jaci Hrabusicky; and Samantha (husband, Corey) Franzen; six great grandchildren and one sister, Betty Luketich Cerutti of Gillespie, IL.
