Gary L. Kious, 75, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 3:52 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore, IL.
Mr. Kious was born on September 27, 1945 in Vandalia, IL to the late Cleo and Ruth (Hubbard) Kious. He was a graduate of Mulberry Grove High School in Mulberry Grove, IL. Mr. Kious married Debra A. Tiemann in Coffeen, IL on June 1, 2002, and she survives in Coffeen, IL. Mr. Kious was a truck driver; he had also worked for Olin ammunitions manufactory, and was the Marshall at Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore, IL. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, as well as the Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church in Greenville, IL, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Mr. Kious had lived in Mulberry Grove, IL; Godfrey, IL; and Coffeen, IL throughout his lifetime.
Along with his wife, Debra A. Kious of Coffeen, IL, Mr. Kious is survived by his children, Renea (husband, Marshall) Kious Harpster of St. Peter, IL; Tracy (husband, Randy) Smith of Bethalto, IL; Julie Slimick of Bethalto, IL; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Kious was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Ruth (Hubbard) Kious, as well as one brother.
