Gary G. Cartwright, 75, of Litchfield, IL, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at his residence. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 1:30 p.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Cremation rites were accorded. Granddaughter, Brooke, to eulogize.
Mr. Cartwright was born on March 4, 1945 in Hillsboro, IL to the late Henry A. and Irene Elizabeth (Stewart) Cartwright. He was a 1964 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL and worked as a head meat cutter at A&P and Kroger stores, was a member of Meat Cutters UFCW Union Local 655, worked for Penn National Gaming, and cut meat for the Korner Store and Liquor, Ramsey, IL. Mr. Cartwright lived in Hillsboro, IL, Walshville, IL, and Litchfield, IL during his life. He married Susan Shelton on July 18, 1997 in Poplar Bluff, MO and she survives in Litchfield, IL. Mr. Cartwright enjoyed vacationing with his wife in Las Vegas, NV, taking road trips to Grafton, IL, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, being at the pool, spending time outdoors, loved camping, and loved to fish.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Cartwright is survived by his children, Darren (wife Connie) Cartwright of Litchfield, IL, Doug (wife Teri) Cartwright of Hillsboro, IL, Melissa (husband Rex) Christer of Gillespie, IL, Danielle Shelton (partner Kayla) of Mt. Olive, IL, Greg (wife Terri) Satterlee of Mt. Olive, IL, Chuck (wife Cheryl) Satterlee of Mt. Olive, IL, and Joshua Shelton; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cartwright was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carrie Snyder Satterlee; and two brothers, Jim Cartwright and Donald Cartwright.
