Garry R. Williamson, 79, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 9:45 a.m. at his residence. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillsboro Country Club, Hillsboro, IL. It will be eulogized by golfing buddies, water plant co-workers and family. CDC guidelines will be followed with use of masks and social distancing.
Mr. Williamson was born on June 4, 1942, in New Delhi, NY, to the late Russell Andrew and Stella Anna (Smith) Williamson. He was a 1961 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL, and received an EPA degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL, in 1999. Mr. Williamson was in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from October, 1961 to February, 1966, stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital as an Operating Room Technician. Afterwards he was a part of the Naval Reserve, from 1966 to 1970, in Springfield, IL. He married Pamelia Ann Marrin, on October 7, 1967, she survives in Hillsboro, IL. He has lived in Binghamton, NY; St. Louis, MO; Dubuque, IA; Sebring, FL; Litchfield, IL and Hillsboro, IL.
He worked for his Dad at City Dairy in Hillsboro, IL, as a kid. He was an Assistant Roofer at Piazza Roofing in Hillsboro, IL, worked at Capri IGA in Litchfield, IL, City Dairy in Hillsboro, IL, delivering Litchfield Creamery Products to Commercial Accounts, worked for Williamson Meadow Gold Distributor in Hillsboro, IL and for the City of Hillsboro Water Filtration Plant. Mr. Williamson was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL, the Hillsboro Jaycees, and Knights of Columbus, where he was part of the Bingo Kitchen Team member, and he enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Williamson is survived by his two children, Laura S. Williamson and Jason R. Williamson; three grandchildren, Jared R. Williamson, Jade R. Williamson, and Jenna R. Williamson and one brother, Jim Williamson of Hillsboro, IL. Along with his parents, he was preceded by two sisters, Norma Piazza and Ann Wagner.
