Everett Carroll, 97, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 11:40 p.m. Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hillsboro, IL. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. A Funeral Service on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield, IL. Rev. Randy Sands, Pastor of the Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.
Mr. Carroll was born on March 31, 1924 in Edmundson County, KY, to the late Emmett and Hannah (Salztman) Carroll. He was a high school graduate and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1944. He worked as a farmer and a coal miner. He married Jacquelyn Singleterry on December 22, 1949 in Butler, IL. She survives in Hillsboro, IL. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1377 in Hillsboro, the Taylor Springs VFW, and the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.
In addition to his wife, Jacquelyn, Mr. Carroll is survived by his children, James (wife Ruth) Carroll, Stanley Carroll, Tena (husband John) Burris, and Nancy Traylor; four grandchildren, Matt (wife Jamie) Carroll, Sean (wife Brandi) Traylor, Randi Traylor, and Rachel Burris; three great-grandchildren, Landon Carroll, Liam Traylor, and Kolton Traylor.
Mr. Carroll is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Randy Carroll; his son-in-law, Steve Traylor; and his sisters, Ruby Buckles and Maggie Carroll.
Memorials may be given to Montgomery County P.A.W.S or Moose Lodge #1377.
