Dorothy Dean Eddington, age 90, of Irving, Illinois passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 5:55 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, Illinois. Visitation for Mrs. Eddington will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore, Illinois. Burial will take place at Irving Cemetery in Irving, Illinois. Myron Kirk and Sue Bryce will be officiating.
Dorothy was born on January 19, 1934 to the late Edwin and Helen (Schwartzle) Best in Rosamond, Illinois. She married Homer Eugene Eddington on February 24, 1955 at South Fork United Methodist Church in Nokomis, Illinois. The couple had been married for 54 years, before he preceded her in death in 2010. Mrs. Eddington pursued her career alongside her husband as a farmer. She enjoyed farming and being a member of the Farm Bureau. Dorothy was very hardworking and enjoyed canning, gardening her favorite flowers, gladiolus, dahlias, and roses. She was very proud to be a grand champion for her infamous angel food cake and she thoroughly enjoyed quilting and embroidery.
Mrs. Eddington is survived by her three children, Alda Eddington, Diane Eddington, and Marla (husband, Chris) Sidwell, all of Irving, Illinois; her grand fur babies; siblings, Wilma Spikes of Witt, Illinois, Eldon (Joyce) Best of Taylorville, Illinois, and sister in laws, Joyce Best of Pana, Illinois and Lois Best of Rushville, Illinois; nieces and nephews, and her many honorary grandchildren. She is preceded by her siblings, Edwin Henry Best Jr., and Charles Ray Best; brother in law, Billy Spikes.
The family asks that memorials be made to Irving Methodist Church in Irving, Illinois or Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore, Illinois.
