Dorles “Dottie” Jean Paden, 88, of Hillsboro, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 9:06 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs, Illinois. Visitation for Mrs. Paden will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Matt Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, Illinois
Mrs. Paden was born on October 16, 1935, in Waggoner, Illinois, to the late Charles and Delma (Hunter) Mullen. She was a graduate of Girard High School and continued on to receive her BA in Education from Millikin University in Decatur and Masters in Education from SIU Edwardsville. She married Glenn Paden on July 28, 1956 in Waggoner, Illinois and he preceded her in death on September 20, 2016. Mrs. Paden was a school teacher for many years, prior to retiring in 1994. She taught at Waggoner School immediately following her college graduation and pursued her teaching career at Burbank Elementary School in Hillsboro from 1968 – 1980 and Beckemeyer Elementary School in Hillsboro from 1980 – 1994. Mrs. Paden was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, where she played the organ/piano for 45 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and was previously the Montgomery County Home Economic Advisor. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved her dogs, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
Mrs. Paden is survived by her children, Bret (wife, Shirley) Paden of Collinsville, Illinois and Jill Paden of Hillsboro, Illinois; grandchildren, Rachel (husband, Scott) Mans of Maryville, Illinois and Monica (companion, Alex) Paden of Napa Valley, California; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Camden, Brooklyn, Devin, and Autumn Mans; brother, Robert E Mullen of Geneseo, New York. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers.
