Doris V. (Lewey) White, 96, of Hillsboro, IL passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:43 a.m. at Litchfield Health and Rehab in Litchfield, IL. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon), at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be follow at noon at the funeral home. Rev. Randy Sands, Pastor of Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.
Mrs. White was born on September 14, 1927 in Hillsboro, IL, to the late Cecil Hoyt Lewey & Edith Irene (Roper) Lewey McCaslin. She married Burrel Jennings White, on July 26, 1946, in Coffeen, IL and he preceded her in death. Mrs. White had attended Butler and Hillsboro Schools. She had worked at Hillsboro Glass Factory in Hillsboro, IL, was a cook at Coffeen Grade School, Dairy Queen for 15 years and numerous other restaurants. She was a member of Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL and Coffeen Senior Citizens. Doris was an avid reader and loved going to the library. She had lived in Hillsboro, IL, Butler, IL and Coffeen, IL most of her adult life.
Mrs. White is survived by her daughters, Karen Blankenship of Hillsboro, IL and Jodi (White) Weller of Springfield, IL; daughter in Law, Linda White of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, Angie Smith, Jennifer Runkel, Jason White, Michele (Weller) O’Rourke and Daniel Weller; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael B. White; a son-in-law, Kenneth Blankenship and two brothers, Paul Lewey and Joe Lewey.
