Doris Jean (Huisman) Reeves

Doris Jean Reeves, 89, of Hillsboro, IL, formerly of Panama, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 6:35 p.m., at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Taylor Springs, IL.  A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Panama United Methodist Church in Panama, IL.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Panama United Methodist Church in Panama, IL.  Rev. Raymond Snider, Pastor of Panama United Methodist Church in Panama, IL, will officiate.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Panama, IL.

Mrs. Reeves was born on August 20, 1931, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late John and Emma (Kusrow) Huisman.  She was a 1949 graduate of Madison East High School in Madison, WI and later obtained her real estate license.  She married Dallas Reeves on July 1, 1950 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Madison, WI and he preceded her in July of 1997.  Mrs. Reeves worked as a secretary, for 15 years, in the Loan Department at Montgomery County National Bank in Hillsboro, IL; was a sales agent at Holzinger Real Estate and worked at Manning Grocery Store in Panama, IL.  She lived in Hillsboro, IL; Madison, WI and Panama, IL during her lifetime. Mrs. Reeves was a member of the Panama VFW Auxiliary, United Methodist Church, Panama, IL; and the Bunko Club, Panama, IL.

Mrs. Reeves is survived by a daughter, Debra (husband, Bruce) Vanzo of Taylor Springs, IL; two grandchildren, Rena (husband, Michael) Larsen of Salt Lake City, UT and Joe (wife, Scarlet) Vanzo of Vandalia, IL; three great-grandchildren, Emmett Larsen, Pearce Larson & Adley Jean Vanzo; a sister, Patricia Cole of Baraboo, WI; an aunt, Florence Sell of California; a cousin, Norman Huisman of Donnellson, IL and several cousins in Wisconsin and California.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Reeves was preceded in death by a son, Deane Reeves in April of 1973.
