Donna Ruth (Brashears) Sweet

Donna Ruth (Brashears) Sweet, 92, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 4:30 p.m., at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab in Taylor Springs, IL. Private family services will be held at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Private family burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL. Mark Noyes, of Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.

Mrs. Sweet was born on December 15, 1929, in Robinson, IL, to the late Roscoe Calvin and Clancie Launa (Miner) Brashears. She was a 1947 graduate of Palestine High School in Palestine, IL. Mrs. Sweet married Donald Harold Sweet, on September 3, 1950, in Palestine, IL and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2016. In her early working days, Mrs. Sweet worked for McDavid Abstract, then in the office of Montgomery County Clerk, Clinton Kimbro; she retired from the Clerk’s Office in 1995. Donna was a member of the First Christian Church of Hillsboro. She enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR racing, and she was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her delicious Christmas candies and her homemade noodles. Donna often spoke of making noodles on her lunch hour to feed her family for supper that evening.

Mrs. Sweet is survived by her three children, Doug (wife, Teri) Sweet of Hillsboro, IL; Dan (wife, Michelle) Sweet of Hillsboro, IL and Donna “Denise” Sweet Corazza of Hillsboro, IL; eight grandchildren, Liz (husband, Ian) Sweet-Kelley; Natalie Bergman; Nathan (Allie) Sweet; Meghan Bertolino; Ben (wife, Sarah) Sweet; Zach (wife, Nancy) Sweet; Ethan (Denise) Sweet and Hannah (husband, Christopher) Jurgena; twelve  great-grandchildren; sister,  Jeanne Peterson of Schererville, IN, and brother, Roscoe (wife, Marty) Brashears of Mt. Carmel, IL. Mrs. Sweet was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Calvin and Clancie Launa (Miner) Brashears; her husband, Donald Sweet; granddaughter, Katie O’Hara Sweet; son-in-law, Kevin Corazza; brother, Bill Brashears; sister-in-law, Marge Brashears and brother-In-Law, Jess Peterson.

Memorials may be given to Hillsboro Public Library in Hillsboro, IL.
