Donald "Bumps" Lee Meyer

Donald “Bumps” Lee Meyer, 80, of Witt, IL passed away Thursday, August  17, 2023 at 5:57pm at Litchfield Health & Rehab in Litchfield, IL. Visitation will be Monday, August 21, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, IL. Pastor Kevin Cook of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, IL will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Witt, IL. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside.            

Donald was born February 6, 1943 in Hillsboro, IL to Vernon & Agnes (Bogle) Meyer, Both preceded in death. He was a Witt High School Graduate of 1961 and attended college at Lincoln Land Community College. He was in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967 in Vietnam. He married Sally Satterlee on November 13, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she survives in Witt, IL. During his life he lived in Nokomis, IL and Witt, IL. He was employed at Illinois Consolidated Phone Company as a repairman and technician from 1968 to 1995, He then helped John and Phil Speiser Farm and worked for the city of Witt after retirement from the Phone Company. Donald was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, IL, Witt Lion’s Club for 50 years, IBEW Local Union Member. Loved spending time with grandchildren. Enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and mushroom hunting. Huge Illini basketball fan and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.

Mr. Meyer is survived by his children Rick (wife, Rebecca Harley) Meyer of Decatur, IL, Paula (husband, Loren) Bergman of Swansea, IL, and Amy (husband, Terry) Conway of Colorado Springs, CO, and five grandchildren, Daniella Conway, Tristan Bergman, Emma Harley, Samuel Conway, and Elizabeth Harley. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Meyer.
