David Martin Rowe

David Rowe, age 86, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at his residence in Hillsboro IL. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, with Rev. Matt Ferguson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro IL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mr. Rowe was born on November 24, 1928 at Charleston MO to the late Burt H. Rowe, Sr. and Phoebe (Schaper) Rowe. His marriage to Jeanne M. "Ginsy" Howell was on November 6, 1954 at Coronado CA. Ginsy preceded him in death on August 8, 2004. David received his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from MIT. He had served in the Korean Confict with the Navy. Mr. Rowe had worked as a Civil Engineer with Hurst-Rosche Engineers and was Past President of the firm. Hillsboro had been his residence since 1954.

His memberships included Ozark Missouri Jazz Club, Hillsboro Kiwanis, Exhausted Rooster in Jaycee's, Illinois Civil Engineers Association, Member of First Presbyterian Church, where he had sung in the choir for 50 years, and Lincolnland Barbershop Club, He had also served as Past Chairman of Hillsboro Area Hospital Board of Directors and and was a past member of the Board of Directors at Boatmen's Bank.  He was a lifelong St. Louis sports fan, Cardinals and Rams. He had received an award for Senior Champion Bocce Ball in Green Valley AZ and multiple awards for RFR washer championships.  His many interests included a love for baseball, playing cards, Big Band and Swing music and loved to jitterbug!

Survivors include one son, John D. (wife Janet) Rowe, Springfield, IL, two daughters, Liz (husband Tim) Huber, Rosamond IL, Gigi (husband Mark) Husted, St. Peters, MO and one son-in-law, Mike Wielgopolan, Ottawa IL. Nine grandchildren also survive, Molly Neikes, Kelli Huber, Quinn Huber, Dane Wielgopolan, Kylie Wielgopolan, Chloe Wielgopolan, Jennifer Jackson, Zach Bledsoe and Marc Husted and three great grandchildren, Taylor Permetier, Regan Permetier and Peyton Wielgopolan. Preceding in death were one daughter, Kate Wielgopolan, and three brothers, Dr. George P. Rowe, Burt H. Rowe, Jr. and Richard N. Rowe

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro IL.
