Darlene Christine (Denton) Mikeska

Darlene C. Mikeska, 95, of Taylor Springs, IL passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 6:20 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab in Taylor Springs, IL.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL.  Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church, will be Celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.

Mrs. Mikeska was born on June 6, 1928, in Montgomery County, IL, to the late Roy E. & Oregona (Schoeneweis) Denton.  She was a graduate of Irving High School in Irving, IL and had attended 2 years of college for Teachers Aide.  She married William V. “Willie” Mikeska, on May 22, 1954, in Hillsboro, IL.  He preceded in death on October 27, 2009.  Mrs. Mikeska had worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Beckemeyer Elementary School & Coffeen School in the Hillsboro School District and also was a salad maker at the Moonlight Y in Taylor Springs, IL. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL, where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women; Meals on Wheels and Taylor Springs Centennial Association.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and she loved her Taylor Springs community.  She had lived in Taylor Springs, IL her entire adult life.

Mrs. Mikeska is survived by her children, Melinda (husband, Bob) Groszek of Taylor Springs, IL, William “Butch” (wife, Annette) Mikeska of Hillsboro, IL, Theresa (husband, Mike) Reilman of Trenton, IL & Brenda Mikeska of Georgetown, IN; nine grandchildren, Erika Rudolph, Nathan (wife, Kate) Mikeska, Ginger (husband, Ben) Shroyer, Lasha (husband, Ryan)Guillen, Mitchell (wife, Danielle) Mikeska, Morgan (husband, Seth) Yount, Leigh Anne Groszek, Anthony Groszek and Hilary (husband, Daniel) Revkin; eight great grandchildren, Hayden, Hunter & Hannah Shroyer; Oriana & Alex Mikeska; Amelia & Leo Yount and Liam Mikeska; two sisters, Linda Denton of Hillsboro, IL and Juanita (husband, Steven) Borgic of Decatur, IL and 1 Sister-in-law, Barbara Denton of Taylor Springs, IL.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Denton in infancy and Robert “Bud” Denton on September 16, 1998.
