Cody D Ray

Cody Dillon Ray, 35, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10:34 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 11:00 a.m.  – 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Konrad Faries will officiate and military rites will be held at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL.

Cody was born in Lake of the Ozarks, MO on January 12, 1986 to Dennis Ray of Buckhorn, MO and Mandy (Sanders) Smith of Hillsboro, IL. He was a 2006 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Cody joined the Army National Guard his junior year of high school. He served 18 months in Afghanistan and was an infantryman specializing in Raven Pilot UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). Cody was an ordained minister and he was of the Methodist faith. He was also an inventor and an accomplished artist and owner of Designing Smiles. Cody worked as a Carpenter, and he had worked on the restoration of the Red Rooster in Hillsboro, IL. Cody enjoyed the Missouri Rivers and floating with his fur baby “Paco”. Cody was a devoted son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to all that crossed his path. He had lived in Buckhorn, MO and Hillsboro, IL.

In addition to his parents, Cody is survived by his brother, Austin Grabow and his half brother, Nathaniel Ray; Grandparents, Ray & Doris Fishback of Richland, MO and Jimmie & Gerry Ray of Missouri; Cody also leaves aunts, uncles, and several cousins in Illinois as well as family in Missouri.
