Chris Michael Funk, 52, of Taylor Springs, IL passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 4:41 p.m., at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis MO. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Memorial services will follow at 6:00 p.m., where there will be a time for sharing and the family is encouraging anyone who wishes to share stories and memories of Chris. Rev. Breck Nelson, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be in Irving Cemetery in Irving, IL at a later date.
Mr. Funk was born on June 25, 1971, in Springfield, IL, to Michael and Marsha (Williams) Funk. He attended Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL and was a graduate of Kemper Military School in Boonville, MO. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL and Blended Artists Imaginarium Theater Group. He loved to paint; listen to records, especially Blues, Elvis, Led Zeppelin and The Stones; watching Elvis movies; collecting antique bottles; history, especially family history; collecting vinyl records, which he had an extensive collection and creating art. He especially loved being a Grampa and his dog, Genghis. Mr. Funk had worked as a Laborer and had lived in Irving, Hillsboro, and Taylor Springs, IL his entire life.
Mr. Funk is survived by his parents, Michael & Marsha Funk of Irving, IL; a son, Keegan (wife, Riley) Craig of Hillsboro, IL; four grandchildren, Avery Robinson, Jackson Craig, Harrison Craig and Noah Craig all of Hillsboro, IL; sister, Leslie (husband, Jeff) Hudson of Ventura, CA; niece, Liberty Felix; Aunt, Kim (husband, Max) Cress of Hillsboro, IL and several cousins.
