Charles Lee Jones

Charles Lee Jones, 82, of Greenwood, IN passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at Greenwood Health and Living Community in Greenwood, IN.

He was born August 17, 1941 in Hillsboro, IL to Joseph Charles Jones and Ruby Davidson (Lentz) Jones.  He married Mona Jean (Black) Jones on September 1, 2001 in Benton, IL -- she survives.

Charles was a 1959 graduate of O’Fallon Township High School in O’Fallon, IL.  He later graduated from Ranken Technical College.  He worked as an auto mechanic for 36 years, last working for Dave Croft Sales and Service in Collinsville, IL.

Charles had a lifelong love of hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  He was also deeply involved in the “Overcomers” prison re-entry ministry at his church.

Survivors include his wife Mona Jean (Black) Jones of Greenwood, IN, two sons Mike Jones (Amy) of Franklin, IN and Dave Jones (Tami) of Bose, ID, a sister Carol Sue Jones of South Pasadena, CA, two stepchildren Sharayah Gordon (Chris Cogill) of Herrin, IL and Jarrod Gordon (Emily) of Farmington, MO, eleven grandchildren Marianne Jones, Maggie Jones, Peter Jones (Emma), Marc Jones, Isaac Jones (Lexi), Ryan Jones, Conner Jones, Logan Jones, Emmalyn Morley, Deegan Morley, Genevieve Gordon and another on his way, and his former spouse Beverly A. (Cavins) Jones of Franklin, IN.

His parents preceded him in death.

A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 1PM (Central Time) at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, 3319 Honey Bend Avenue in Litchfield, IL 62056.
