Carl Edwards Hallers, 84, of Taylor Springs, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 7:15 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital, Hillsboro, IL. Cremation rites were accorded. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler, IL. Friends may meet at 9:30 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home to proceed to the cemetery. Pastor Joseph Nehring will officiate.
Mr. Hallers was born on August 1, 1937 to the late Virgil and Nina (Rufus) Hallers in Hillsboro, IL. He attended Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL. He worked for Eagle-Picher Industries, which later became Eagle Zinc Company, Hillsboro, IL; worked for the Coffeen Coal Mine, Coffeen, IL; was the Mayor of Taylor Springs for 42 years; and is still a member of the Taylor Springs Board. He lived in Taylor Springs, IL, his entire life. He married Wilma Garmon on August 26, 1957 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, IL. She survives in Taylor Springs, IL. Mr. Hallers was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, IL, part of the Mt. Moriah Chapter of Masons, Hillsboro, IL, and a member of the Hillsboro Moose Lodge. He loved to bowl on the Hillsboro Bowling League, enjoyed the outdoors, and mowing.
In addition to his wife, Wilma, Mr. Hallers is survived by his children, Brenda Steele of Raymond, IL, Connie (husband David Jr.) Calufetti of Virginia Beach, VA, and Bruce Hallers of Litchfield, IL; four grandchildren, David Calufetti III, Shannon Harris, Todd Steele, and Sara Jenkins; six great-grandchildren; siblings Barbara Camfield, Donna Moler, and Patricia Hallers.
Mr. Hallers was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lula Calhoun.
