Burl LaVern Vogel

Burl LaVern Vogel, 87, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenville Nursing & Rehab in Greenville, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL, with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. also at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home. Mark Noyes of Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Burial will follow at Donnellson Cemetery in Donnellson, IL, with military rites accorded at the graveside.

Burl was born December 8, 1936 in Hillsboro, IL, to Ernest & Hazel (Micenhiemer) Vogel who have both preceded death. A graduate of Hillsboro High School he went on to serve in the United States ARMY. He married Joyce Mullins and they later divorced. Burl then married Donna File on June 26, 1982 in Hillsboro, IL, she survives. He worked as a lineman for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company, retiring after 35+ years. He was a member of Illinois Consolidated Local Union #702 and Shoal Creek Ducks Unlimited in Hillsboro, IL.

Mr. Vogel is survived by his children, Mark Vogel of Denver, CO and Pearl Mary (wife Becky) Moler-Billo of Hillsboro, IL; step-children Melody (husband Troy) White of Coffeen, IL; Randy (wife Pat) Miller of Bunker Hill, IL; and Mark (wife Alice) Miller of Lansing, KS; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Bonnie Boston of Hillsboro, IL.

He is preceded by his parents; son, Burl Vogel Jr.; and siblings, Robert Vogel, William Vogel, Mercedes Lessman, Betty Ott, and Merle Vogel.

Memorials can be made to the Activity fund at Greenville Nursing & Rehab or PAWS Care of Montgomery County.
