Billy Pogue (89) of Butler, Illinois passed away on September 29, 2023 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Hillsboro, Illinois. He was born on October 25,1933 in Scottsburg, Indiana to Ralph and Inez Pogue. Bill was an U.S. Army Veteran and a Fuel Systems Specialist with Cummins Engine Company. He lived in various places throughout his life including Indiana, California, Missouri, and Illinois. Bill was “the life of the party”. He loved spending time with family and friends, always cracking jokes when the opportunity struck. His personality was infectious and he made friends wherever he went. Bill donned his patchwork tweed hat on every outing. He also enjoyed camping, traveling, and working puzzles. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Peggy R. Pogue, a brother, Bob Pogue and a sister, Thelma Bridgewater. His survivors include two daughters, Billie Ann (Jerry Sammons,) of Butler, Illinois, Kathy Miner (Garry) of Scottsburg, Indiana, and a son Todd Pogue (Jo) of Ripon, California, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a sister Francis Adams. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Ware’s Grove Cemetery in Butler, Illinois. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family with a private service. Memorials are suggested to Ware’s Grove Cemetery in Butler, IL.
