Beverly Grindley, 85, of Coffeen, IL passed away on Monday, December 02, 2024, at 9:23 a.m., at her residence. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home with Troy White officiating. Burial will be in Olive Hill Cemetery in Coffeen, IL.
Mrs. Grindley was born on December 21, 1938, in New Holland, IL, to the late Meinard Doyen and Ilene (Knoles) Doyen McLaughlin Burris. She was a 1956 Graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL and married Elbert “Elbo” Grindley, on February 21, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Coffeen, IL. They had been married for 62 years before he preceded her in death on September 26, 2021. Mrs. Grindley owned and operated a Café in Coffeen, IL, as well as waitressing at other local restaurants. She and “Elbo” also owned & operated the Coffeen Laundromat for several years. Mrs. Grindley loved to bowl and was on a bowling league in Hillsboro for many years. She had went to the National Bowling Tournament twice, once in Buffalo, NY and then in Tulsa, OK. She loved spending time with her family. She lived in Petersburg, IL until moving to Coffeen, IL in 1952.
Mrs. Grindley is survived by her two children, Carl Grindley of Ferron, Utah and Dawn (husband, John) Osborn of Coffeen, IL; five grandchildren, Faith (husband, Jeff) Clark, Zach Grindley, Afton (husband, Kyler) Wakefield, Shawnee (husband, Dustin) Snow, and Gabe Osborn, four great grandchildren, Drayson Snow, Daxton Snow, Deegan Snow and Lennix Clark and three siblings, Judy (husband, Jerry) Hauskins of Greenville, IL, Janet (husband, Terry) White of Coffeen, IL and Ralph (wife, Anne) McLaughlin of Hillsboro, IL and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Wanda Gail Guckian, Doris Greenwood, and David Doyen.
