Barbara Furness Obituary

Barbara Ann (Streight) Furness, 89, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at her residence. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. United Methodist Church of Witt, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. United Methodist Church of Witt, IL. Rev. Mike Lawton, Pastor of United Methodist Church in Witt, IL will officiate. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Witt, IL.

Ms. Furness was born on May 27, 1933 in Macon County near Decatur/ Argenta, IL to the late Preston and Ione (Thrift) Streight. She was a 1951 Graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Heselov’s until she began her family; she was a farm wife and Secretary for Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District, until her retirement in 1998. Ms. Furness married Keith D. Furness on July 15, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Butler, IL; he preceded on August 23, 2008. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Witt, IL; United Methodist Women’s Club; Church Secretary and Treasurer; Beef Producers member; and Mother’s Club member. Ms. Furness was famous for her homemade pies and noodles. She had lived in Butler, IL; Witt, IL; Morrisonville, IL; and Hillsboro, IL during her lifetime.

Ms. Furness is survived by her children, Sharon Ann Furness of Hillsboro, IL; Donna Trader of Hillsboro, IL; Kevin (wife Melissa) Furness of Farmersville, IL; Kyle (wife Tina) Furness of Hillsboro, IL; and Kerry (Jessica) Furness of Hillsboro, IL; grandchildren, Eric (Melissa) Trader, Brandon (Angelica) Trader, Kelly (Elizabeth) Furness, Meghan (Randle) Eggers, Kristopher (Alex) Furness, and Austin (Madison) Furness; great grandchildren, Aliyah Trader, Kaelen Furness, Owen Trader, Kinsley Trader, Danielle Furness, Emerson Trader, Claire Trader, Elise Eggers, Brecken Trader, Amila Eggers, and Julianna Furness. She was preceded by her parents, Preston and Ione (Thrift) Streight; her husband, Keith D. Furness; her son-in-law, Rex Trader; and four sisters and three brothers.
